Description
When I was a child, I asked myself a lot of questions about reality.
What does infinity look like? How big is the Universe? If all organs are mine, who am I? Is there anything after death? Why did God create evil? Did humans evolve from apes? Is time travel possible? ... and so on.
To many of them, I found answers in books or from people around me - parents and teachers mostly. To others, I was simply not able to understand the answers I got or to find someone that could explain in my own language. So they remained unanswered questions.
I thought that I needed to wait and become a grown-up so that I would be able to get to the meaning of things.
Then, as I grew up, I studied the world from several perspectives (mostly history, geography, theology, maths, physics, and ultimately, informatics) and as I became an adult I found answers to many of these unanswered questions.
But with the passage of time, I was surprised to see that some things that I was introduced to as a child and that I was told were obvious, had in fact meanings that ran a lot deeper. And even if at some point they seemed obvious to me, I realized I was far from any clear answers.
On the contrary to my expectations (that I need to wait, to become a grown-up...), I discovered that adulthood actually makes me (us) more confused.
I believe I am now starting to understand Aristotle's "the more you know, the more you realize you don't know".Â
I am intrigued by the fact that the most basic things in life are actually unknown to us. Even some questions that looked obvious in our/my childhood have no simple answers (or none at all) and this is not because I didn’t pose these questions to myself, but because I trusted the baffling common sense and intuition.
This is my adventure that I start together with my inner curiosity, to explore the greatest mysteries there are. I dare to ask the most fundamental questions.
Of course, on the way to adulthood, the form of the questions derived into more complex wording. But the ideas stay the same. Here is a brief from the list of topics (please fill out the form below to request the whitepaper for the full list).
- Consciousness
- Free will
- Objectivity vs Subjectivity
- Osmosis
- Diffraction
- Entropy
- Information
- Reality vs Simulation (aka Matrix)
- Relativity and Quantum Mechanics
- Big Bang
- Theology, God
- Purpose and meaning of life
- Hemispherectomy
- Death
- Good vs Evil
- Time travel
How the adventure starts
The first step is to organize interviews with highly recognized experts in different areas such as natural sciences, mathematics, theology, philosophy, medicine, psychology, anthropology, informatics, etc.
I want to capture all of these discussions on video and distribute them on the Internet. I find this as a great way to popularize science and to meet smart people from which I can learn a great amount.
While I was preparing the master plan for this journey, I was inspired by some other producers, such as Closer to Truth, World Science Festival, Vsauce, Veritasium, 3b1b. They helped me realize that I have more chances if I co-opt other curious minds who are more experienced than myself in certain areas.Â
I am currently still building a team for this project, so if you are interested in a more detailed presentation and you want to be part of the team, please fill out the form below. (PS. The whitepaper is written in Romanian.)
